Eden boasts a vibrant atmosphere and a bustling calendar of activities year-round for those working in the building and the local community to enjoy. We strive to create a welcoming environment that fosters connection and nurtures togetherness; at Eden, you get all that and more.

As Christmas quickly approaches and the festivities ramp up, there’s plenty happening at Eden, across New Bailey and nearby neighbourhoods in Manchester and Salford. From festive markets to our very own Christmas party, there’s something for everyone to get into the yuletide spirit.

Here’s your guide to what’s on this Christmas at Eden and beyond.

A sustainable Christmas

It’s no secret that at Eden, we live and breathe sustainability. So naturally, our Christmas tree had to reflect our environmentally friendly ethos.

Citiblooms lovingly created a circular economy tree that will see every aspect of it reused or recycled, including:

– The fresh spruce and pine will later be turned into mulch for future exterior projects across the city.

– Hessian fabric, a strong, biodegradable material, and jute string bring the structure together and secure each section. The hessian continues to absorb CO2 from the atmosphere.

– Dried fruits, such as oranges, green oranges, and orange slices, are stored in airtight containers for longevity and will be used in future projects, along with natural pine cones.

– Recycled boxes, presents, and paper are featured as Christmas presents throughout the display.

– The recycled wooden crates are used year-round for various creative installations, including Eden’s main installation, where the crates form the central structure.

Citiblooms also offers 4ft and 6ft fresh potted Christmas trees, which will be replanted and maintained throughout the year, ready to be used again next Christmas.

Christmas jumper day – Thursday 11 December

Our occupiers will be wearing their finest Christmas jumpers to raise funds for Save the Children. This is one of Save the Children’s biggest annual fundraising events and has been running since 2012. By taking part, Eden’s occupants are helping to support children and families in the UK and around the world to stay safe and healthy, whilst spreading a little seasonal joy in the building.

Christmas party – 18 December

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a celebration! Our occupants can join us for an afternoon party where they can indulge in mince pies, mulled wine, festive music, and board games at Spice & Grind, our in-house café. There’s also a Christmas giveaway, featuring prizes like free sessions with Yoga Republic and other treats from our local community. It’s the perfect chance to unwind, connect, and celebrate another year together.

New Bailey Square – 3 December

Enjoy a live carol service from The Manchester Civil Service Choir and warm up with a selection of festive drinks from Spice & Grind. People working in New Bailey can also claim a free festive drink on the day if they sign up via the QR code on the festive vinyl floor artwork around New Bailey.

Santa Paws – 6 December

Join Pup Culture for a free dog-friendly day complete with a doggy costume competition, dog food & toy bank donations, street food, free puppuccinos, a dog market, the Pawble workshop and the chance to meet Santa. Please note, tickets are required for the workshop and meet Santa experience – you can buy them here.

Step into Christmas at St. John’s

Just a short five-minute walk from Eden is St. John’s, an up-and-coming Manchester neighbourhood featuring Aviva Studios, Caravan, Trading Route, and Stables Tavern. It also features the Courts Club which has been transformed into Winter Assembly, offering a beer hall, festive film screenings, karaoke chalets, and much more.

Elsewhere, GRUB is launching a festive market packed with street food vendors, mulled wine and entertainment. Located on Good Yard Street, it runs from 20th November to 21st December. The event will feature unique festive dishes and a merry line-up of independent traders and chefs. It’s perfect for after-work Christmas drinks with colleagues or friends, offering a lively atmosphere and an evening full of festivities.

Also new to St. John’s is the highly anticipated Soho House Manchester. This is the first-of-its-kind in the North of England and only a stone’s throw from those with offices at Eden. Set across four floors, it features a lounge and a Club Bar overlooking the city, as well as a rooftop pool, gym, reformer Pilates studio, sauna and steam room.

Why Eden’s location makes Christmas even better

Situated in New Bailey, Eden is only a 15-minute walk from St. Peter’s Square and Deansgate Metrolink, and is just 5 minutes from Salford Central – making it ideal for commuters.

Eden’s occupants are never short of options for entertainment, dining, and nightlife – making it an ideal spot for those seeking fun social activities close by.
